Course Overview
Race Start: In front of the Cog Railway Depot (515 Ruxton Ave, Manitou Springs, CO 80829)
The Barr Trail Mountain Race course follows Ruxton Ave until runners merge onto Barr Trail at the top/end of Ruxton Avenue. The course then proceeds on Barr Trail approximately 6.1 miles to the turn-around point at Barr Camp with an elevation gain of 3,630ft. Runners then proceed back down Barr Trail following the same course they went up, but will make a sharp left turn on Hydro Street before reaching the Cog Railway station, and finish at the top of Hydro Street in the Barr Trail parking lot.
There are 5 aid stations along the course (4 of which runners will encounter twice):
- Start/Finish – Miles 0 & 12.6 (water and Tailwind Endurance Fuel)
- Top of the Ws – Miles 2 & 10.7 (water only)
- No Name – Miles 3.1 & 9.5 (water and Tailwind Endurance Fuel)
- Bob’s Road – Miles 4.2 & 8.4 (water and Tailwind Endurance Fuel)
- Barr Camp – Mile 6.3 (water only/turnaround)
Cut Off Times:
Cut off times are enforced with the help of our safety team on the trail (El Paso County Search and Rescue). We kindly ask runners to PLEASE adhere to on-course cut off times for the safety of EVERYONE on the trail and mountain, from runners themselves, to our High School Aid Station teams, our volunteers, and our EPCSAR team members. Keep in mind, this is a CHARITY RACE, and 100% of our registration profits go directly to our non-profit beneficiaries.
